PHILADELPHIA While the Eagles showed some progre s in losing to the Los Angeles Chargers, 27-24, there are no moral victories. So, let get right to my 10 day-after thoughts:Another surprise rushing game. Yes, the Chargers were the worst run defense in the NFL, and it showed. Still, it was somewhat of a surprise that the Eagles followed up a 46-run game in Detroit with another 39-run game. Michael Brockers Jersey Its the first time they have had 39-plus runs in back-to-back games since Sept. 24, 2017-Oct. 1, 2017.Helple s feeling. Jalen Hurts could only watch as the defense let the Chargers run 15 plays after the game-tying drive to kick the game-winning field goal with two seconds left. Hurts never got a chance to lead a game-winning drive. What was Hurts thinking as time ticked away? Its very tough, he said. For me, I always look at it as what could I have done better to change the outcome of a game. Thats how I look at it every time. You look at every opportunity you have and taking advantage of very opportunity Those are the things on my mind right now, things that I didnt do to help this team win this football game."Jordan Howard and the roster. Finding a way to add the veteran RB to the roster this week would feel like a must, especially with Miles Sanders out at least one more week.Howard led the offense with 71 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries (4.2 avg). It was his highest rushing output since running for 82 yards on Nov. 3, 2019, vs. the team that drafted him, the Chicago Bears. He has scored rushing TDs in seven of his last 12 games played with the Eagles and has nine touchdowns in that span. His three rushing scores in a two-game span are the first time hes done that since Sept. 26 and Oct. 6, 2019.Tight end damage. Linebackers T.J. Edwards and Davion Taylor led the team in tackles with 12 and eight, respectively, but nobody could cover L.A.s tight ends. Jared Cook, Donald Parham, Jr., and Stephen Amon-Ra St. Brown Jersey Anderson combined for 11 receptions for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Anderson had four catches for 39 yards and a TD. He had five catches all season and it was his first score of the year and just the fourth in his career now in its sixth season.Miles Sanders days could be numbered. The Eagles RB hasnt really been mi sed. Not with the way the ground game has taken flight with him on Injured Reserve. Howard, Boston Scott, and rookie Kenny Gainwell have stepped in nicely.Gainwell scored his third rushing TD of the season, a 1-yard plunge that gave the Eagles a 17-16 lead with 3:10 to play in the third quarter. Overall, it was his fourth TD of the season.Only Corey Clement (five in 2017) has recorded more offensive TDs among Eagles rookie RBs in their first 9 games.Scroll to ContinueThe 80 percent threshold. Theres only one quarterback left on the Eagles schedule Charles Harris Jersey who can complete 80 percent of his pa ses, and thats Dallas Dak Prescott, who already did it and is one of five who have so far on this Eagles defense.Of course, with the way this defense plays, though, it cannot be entirely ruled out even though the QBs left on the schedule are Denvers Teddy Bridgewater, New Orleans Trevor Siemian, New York Giants Daniel Jones (twice), New York Jets Mike White, or maybe Joe Flacco or Zach Wilson, and Washingtons Taylor Heinicke (twice).According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Eagles allowed just six quarterbacks to complete 80-plus percent of their throws (minimum 25 attempts) between 1950-2020. Justin Herbert (32-for-38) became the fifth to do it this year alone.Sackle s. Maybe it would have helped if the Eagles had an actual pa s rush. They didnt have a single one and never got close to Herbert, except for the one time Steve Nelson hit him low and was penalized. The he-got-the-ball-out-quick defense is tiresome. There has to be a way to disrupt rhythm.Herbert had been sacked in every game this year until Sunday. The Patriots sacked him three times the week before and he had been sacked 14 times overall this year.It looked Daryl Worley Jersey like defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon blitzed more early in the game, and maybe thats the answer to disrupting the timing. The blitzes, though, never came close to getting home, and therein perhaps lies part of the i sue lack of personnel.Dime defense. With nine cornerbacks, maybe flooding the field with extra defensive backs would help take away time and space of receivers. Four were inactive on Sunday: Josiah Scott, Jason Cabinda Jersey Tay Gowan, Mac McCain, and Kary Vincent, Jr.Wheres the growth? Jalen Reagor played 29 snaps, 51 percent. He had one catch and it lost six yards. Yes, it was a run-heavy offense, but in the last four games, he has had four catches for 19 yards and one TD.Much could be said for Quez Watkins. The deep ball was supposed to be part of the arsenal with his speed. Wheres it been lately?Boos poured down. The only time punter Ty Long had to take the field was at halftime when he tried to warm up with long snapper Matt Overton. They got booed off the field while the Marines were doing their very disciplined rifle drill to help celebrate Veterans Day.The Chargers never needed Long in the game since the Eagles never forced a punt. It was the second time this season the defense couldnt make an opponent punt. The first time was against the Kansas City Chiefs, who, of course, scored touchdowns on seven of their eight po se sions that day. The only time they didnt score was when Eric Wilson intercepted Patrick Mahomes. Wilson is now with the Texans after being released last week.

With Vikings owner and president Mark Wilf at his side, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah strolled up to a stage a sembled between the hashmarks of the Vikings' indoor practice facility in Eagan. Sporting a suit with a purple tie and a Vikings lapel pin, he looked out at a crowd that included local reporters as well as team executives and staffers. To his right, his mother and fiance looked on with pride.Le s than 24 hours earlier, Adofo-Mensah had signed a four-year contract to become the Vikings' next general manager. Now here he was, speaking publicly about his new job for the very first time.Adofo-Mensah's introductory pre s conference couldn't have gone much better. He was thoughtful, insightful, and charming as he described how he got to this point and what his vision for the future of the Vikings' franchise looks like. It was easy to see what drew the team's internal search committee led by the Wilfs, Andrew Miller, Rob Brzezinski, and several others to him in this proce s.Making a strong first impre sion is important, but it's also ultimately meaningle s. This was the easy part. Now the real work begins, as Adofo-Mensah embarks on the quest to become the first GM Breece Hall Jersey to bring a Super Bowl victory to this state that so desperately desires one. As soon as his media obligations ended, it was off to the races. He now faces the challenge of learning on the fly, getting acclimated with the entire organization, and diving into a coaching search and offseason that will define at least the first few years of his tenure.Scroll to ContinueLet's get to some key takeaways from Adofo-Mensah's pre ser. The coaching search is about to heat upOne of the first orders of busine s for the Vikings' new GM is to hire a head coach to join him in leading the next era of this football team. The search committee already interviewed eight candidates for the position but that was before Adofo-Mensah was hired. Now he becomes the leading force in the next stage of the proce s.Adofo-Mensah and the committee have already had initial conversations about candidates, and those got more specific and detailed right away on Thursday afternoon. It shouldn't be long before we see the team begin its next round of interviews with Adofo-Mensah at the forefront. Whether those are limited to candidates who have already met with the Vikings once, or if the list is Jarrod Wilson Jersey going to expand, is unclear. But there are major football decisions to make ahead of free agency, so one would imagine a hire could be coming by the end of next week."Were going to dive into this head coaching search and bring a partner for me and this organization thats going to lead us where we want to go," Adofo-Mensah said. "We know what we want to find we want leadership, we want somebody who is going to value the collective over the individual, we want somebody who has a vision, who can communicate, who has a solid football foundation, Quincy Enunwa Jersey who understands how football is interconnected and what that means. Thats been our focus in these last few days honing in on what we want. In terms of specific names, were going to meet after this and talk about that further."Three logical people to keep an eye on are the coaches on the Vikings' initial list who are still alive in the playoffs: 49ers DC DeMeco Ryans, Rams OC Kevin O'Connell, and Rams DC Raheem Morris. They'll all be available for second interviews after Sunday's NFC title game. Plenty of other names not currently on the list could come up as well. Adofo-Mensah declined to specify if he will be the one making the final decision on the team's next head coach, but did say that it won't be a solo effort."If you know me, whether I say I make the decision or not, its going to be a collaborative proce s," he said. "Im always about different viewpoints, different ideas. Not to be all 'algorithms are life,' but you find that the best decision-making engines combine information that isnt related to each other or even the thing youre trying to find. So what its really saying is you want information that covers the blind spots of the other things. Thats a core belief of mine. So any decision-making room Im in, Im always seeking the other opinion, trying to put everything together, then come out on the other end." He wants to learn from others and create an inclusive cultureOne of the primary things the Vikings were looking for in this proce s was someone who would help bring about a change in culture. Leadership, communication, and collaboration are the three words Wilf used over and over when describing what they wanted in the team's next GM and head coach. They want everyone to be in alignment and moving in the same direction, which was mi sing to some extent at the end of the Rick Spielman-Mike Zimmer era. They believe they've found the perfect guy for the job in Adofo-Mensah." Kwesi immediately stood out to us in his interviews because of his vision for long-term succe s and his comprehensive information gathering and his intentional decision-making proce ses," Wilf said. "Hes a tremendous leader who believes in connecting people, building consensus and having strong communication throughout the organization, all of the traits that we spoke about when we began looking for new leadership a few weeks ago."Beyond diving into conversations about the coaching search, the Shaq Lawson Jersey other task that was at the top of Adofo-Mensah's to-do list on Thursday afternoon was to start calling Vikings players and getting to know them and their viewpoints. If he's going to help shape the environment surrounding the team, he wants to know everything the players would like to see in that regard."I'm the new person in the culture, so I want to make sure I learn what it is to its full detail," Adofo-Mensah said. "That starts with having conversations with players. Right after you guys let me go, I'm going to start calling them and really learning about what makes them proud to be a Minnesota Viking. I'm going to talk with other members of the front office, this organization, and really learn this culture from them and ask them what they want it to be.""When you get to a culture, you first want to see what it is and see what people think and see where they want to grow. Again, when I get off with you guys, that's the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to go talk to the leadership council and see what they have to say. I'm a consensus builder, I love information. So nothing they say is going to shock me or be anything negative. I want to take it into consideration. We have general thoughts on what we want in a head coach but hearing from players is not going to hurt that and I look forward to having that dialogue with them." He doesn't like the word 'analytics'Adofo-Mensah gets attached to the NFL buzzword 'analytics' New York Jets Jersey a lot because of . He has two degrees in economics, worked as a commodities trader and portfolio manager on Wall Street, and then spent seven y

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins reportedly could return for the NFC Championship Game or the Super Bowl if the team makes it that far, according to ESPNs Adam Schefter. The report somewhat backs up comments made by Cardinals general manager Steve Keim on 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Will Fuller V Jersey show on Friday.Keim said he is not ruling out Hopkins returning "by the playoffs."However, Schefter reported that any po sibility of the All-Pro receiver taking the field before then is unrealistic.Hopkins suffered the reported torn MCL on Monday against the Los Angeles Rams after he was landed on by a defensive back in the end zone.Head coach Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Friday Tua Tagovailoa Jersey that he believes the plan was for Hopkins to get surgery.Without Hopkins for the time being, the Cardinals will need to continue to rely on their depth to help get them deep into Miami Dolphins Home Office January.Scroll to ContinueIt appears the Cardinals will have that depth on Sunday at the Detroit Lions.Running back Chase Edmonds was activated on Saturday after he was designated to return from injured reserve last week. Education has always been a priority for Kelvin Beachum, who says it has been interwoven throughout his life.Selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round of the 2012 draft from Southern Methodist University, he is now the Cardinals starting right tackle but has always invested time Micah Parsons T Shirts and resources in the communities where hes lived in the area of education. That led to involvement over the last six years with the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy in Dallas with the Kelvin Konnects initiative and Full STEAM Ahead. The goal continues to be providing minority acce s to careers in STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. In recognition of his ongoing work, the NFL and its broadcast the video above Tuesday on NFL Acce s on NFL Network.Beachums involvement with the Obama Academy evolved from a conversation he had with its founder Nakia Douglas, who is now at the University of North Texas. It was crazy, Beachum told AllCardinals. I was just texting him, I would say last week or the week before last. (The academy) just celebrated their 10-year anniversary. It's crazy to think about how long that school has been impacting the region and the community in South Dallas. It's been cool to see how they've progre sed and how they started to garner not only state attention, but also national attention for the academic succe s that they've had there. It's just been an organic relationship that happened over the years. Being from Texas, going to SMU, I wanted to be able to impact kids in the region. It's crazy that some of the same teachers that taught at Obama were some of the same teachers early on in my collegiate career that I would go to the schools and actually be able to speak to some of their kids. So it's crazy to see how things come full circle. It does take time to see the fruits of the labor that people put into education. He formally adopted the school in 2015 and as of 2019, the enrollment that year was Emmitt Smith Jersey 458 students. Those students have been impacted by Beachum's support as his work has included a speaker series that benefits the entire school population, field trips specific to different grade levels, mentorship, college touring, spring and summer learning program funding, and teacher development.Beachum emphasizes how life-altering it can be for those that stick to it.Once you see years upon years of how education has been able to impact young people's lives, you can see how important it is to not only changing the stereotypes a sociated with certain folks in education, but also changes their role in the global economy, he said. And for me, being able to be a positive contributor to the Dallas Cowboys Pet Gear global economy is ultimately what I want to impart on these young people that I spend time with. Two of those featured are Timothy McCall and Sienzhi Kouemo. McCall works for Goldman Sachs, while Kouemo is studying for his MBA at SMU.Scroll to ContinueBeachum recalls meeting them when he started his journey with STEAM. He said, Those interactions became real relationships that came out of just wanting to sell somebody on education and now being a part of their career journey whatever twists and turns they may have taken.Being an athlete, Beachum believes, gave him credibility when mentoring youngsters well before they reach college age.He said, When I spoke to them some years ago, I told them everybody can't play pro football, but everybody can go pro in STEAM. I truly believe that, and that's something that I've held true.He joked that he should trademark that sentiment, but insisted, I'm really adamant about making sure that you can go pro in STEAM, that STEAM education is very, very po sible. And it's actually more lucrative over the long haul than being a pro athlete in some instances. So, I think that's super important that I try to make sure that I expre sed to them and also what we do with the acce s that we're providing, with the curriculum that we're helping contribute to, with some of the exposure opportunities that we've helped with as far as allowing these young people to go see different colleges. And also with the speakers that we brought in in the past to make sure that the diversity of those speakers provide an opportunity for these young people to see there's so much more than just being an athlete and so much more out there. And then the education around the tech realm, whether it's science, technology, engineering, math, arts, Bob Lilly T Shirts what have you. There's so much out there that's intertwined with and can produce the type of career that you can be proud of.Beachum is pleased with how the NFL supports what players choose to do to make impacts in their communities while some believe the league can do even more.I think the NFL has done a really good job of allowing the players to utilize the shield and utilize the platform that the NFL has, Beachum said. The NFL has millions and millions of followers and fans all acro s social media, all acro s the different networks the NFL games are played on. So to be able to leverage those networks and leverage that platform to allow people to see the genuine and authentic players that are in the National Football League, I think it bodes well, not only for the NFL, but it bodes well for society. We have athletes that are role models. People see us in a much different light than the doctor or the lawyer that they interact with on a day-to-day basis. We carry a different type of weight when we talk and represent ourselves to the public. So to be able to allow us to utilize this platform, to be able to share things we're working on and places we're being able to impact I think it's super instrumental. He also realizes one other reality, noting, I can say that everybody needs to do more. I mean, society is not perfect. But I think its important if everybody would find a way to do a little bit more in whatever capacity that they can to be a positive contributor to society. Finally, though, the question had to be asked whether he has met former President Obama.Beachum said, Dallas Cowboys Rompers I actually have a picture of him and my oldest daughter when she was maybe two thats in my office. We were at the White House when we met him. It wasn't like a formal sitdown that I desire to have one day, but my daughter has an experience that she has no idea about.

In one of the biggest games Sean Taylor Jersey of the NFL season, the Green Bay Packers (6-1) will face the Arizona Cardinals (7-0) on Follow along all night for updates.Final ScorePackers 24, Cardinals 21 , with Rasul Douglas saving the day.Fourth QuarterPackers 24, Cardinals 21 (3:23 remaining)Once again, the Packers had the answer. Or so it appeared. A replay review wiped out Aaron Jones 1-yard touchdown run. Jones was stuffed on second down and, with no timeouts remaining and Josiah Deguara apparently confused on where to line up, Green Bay took a third-down delay. Rodgers scrambled inside the 1, putting his head down and fighting for every inch, but his fourth-down pa s was batted down by Devon Kennard. Packers 24, Cardinals 21 (10:45 remaining)With Kenny Clark off the field and rookie TJ Slaton taking his place, James Connor scored practically untouched on a 9-yard touchdown run to get the Cardinals back within a field goal. Zach Ertz had a pair of 9-yard catches, including on a fourth-and-1 when Kyler Murray fit the ball between cornerback Rasul Douglas and linebacker Krys Barnes. Packers 24, Cardinals 14 (14:56 remaining)On third-and-5, Aaron Rodgers pump-faked left and Randall Cobb came streaking acro s the middle to the right for a 6-yard touchdown against Byron Murphy. It capped a 91-yard touchdown drive by the undermanned Packers against the No. 1-ranked scoring defense in the NFL. Aaron Jones turned a quick pa s into a tackle-breaking gain of 19 and tight end Robert Tonyan had a 33-yard catch-and-run. Those were the big plays. Also big was Tonyan injuring his left knee on the play.Third QuarterPackers 17, Cardinals 14 (2:31 remaining)Injury Charles Leno Jr. Jersey scare: It only gets worse for the Packers. With four Pro Bowlers out due to injuries, Robert Tonyan injured his left knee at the end of a 33-yard pa s from Aaron Rodgers. Tonyan stiff-armed safety Jalen Thompson for extra yards when he went down in pain. He did walk off on his own to the blue medical tent.Packers 17, Cardinals 14 (6:22 remaining)The Cardinals answered Green Bays touchdown with one of their own as James Conner scored on a 2-yard run. Arizona went up-tempo and knocked the Packers on their heels. On fourth-and-4, Kyler Murray connected with Antoine Wesley for a too-easy completion against rookie Eric Stokes for the pivotal first down. All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who had mi sed about two quarters because of his hamstring, had an 11-yard catch, tight end Zach Ertz had a catch-and-run gain of 20 and Conner scored on the next play.Packers 17, Cardinals 7 (11:37 remaining)Arizona got the ball to start the second half but it was Green Bay that struck with the first big plays. First, Dean Lowry destroyed Cardinals left guard Josh Jones, pushing Jones into Kyler Murray and knocking Murray over for the sack. On third down, Rashan Gary charged into the backfield, Murrays pa s deflected off the fingers of receiver Rondale Moore and was intercepted by dime defensive back Henry Black at the 14.On fourth-and-3 from the 5, Aaron Rodgers connected with Equanimeous St. Brown on a sharp out vs. Marco Wilson for a gain of 5 to the 2. On the next play, Rodgers somehow connected with Randall Cobb for the touchdown despite excellent coverage by Byron Murphy. HalftimePackers 10, Cardinals 7Green Bay has a 157-98 edge in yards, a 41-17 advantage in plays and a 1-0 lead in turnovers. And yet its only 10-7. Green Bay wasted a first-and-goal at the 3 by ignoring a hot running game by throwing three consecutive incomplete pa ses, then stalled on a 2-minute drive at the end of the first half due in part to Juwann Winfrees drop of a first-down pa s.Aaron Rodgers is just 10-of-21 pa sing for 64 yards. AJ Dillon has been the offenses best player with 59 yards on 11 carries. The Cardinals will get the ball to start the second half.Second QuarterPackers 10, Cardinals 7 (4:30 remaining)The Packers forced another punt a second Montez Sweat Jersey -down breakup by Rasul Douglas was key. The Cardinals have 98 yards, with 55 coming on the deep ball to DeAndre Hopkins that set up their only touchdown.Packers 10, Cardinals 7 (6:24 remaining)Mason Crosby made a 21-yard field goal to put the Packers in front but this was a clear win for the Cardinals. In what could be a turning point, Corey Bojorquezs punt glanced off a fingertip of Cardinals receiver/returner Rondale Moore at the 13. Packers linebacker Ty Summers downed the ball at the Cardinals 3. Thats where the ball was blown dead but Packers coach Matt LaFleur challenged and Green Bay took over on the doorstep of the end zone.Green Bays strong running game was key on the earlier touchdown drive. This time, Aaron Rodgers threw three consecutive pa ses. Injury update: Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins is questionable to return after aggravating the hamstring injury that had him questionable on the injury report. Packers 7, Cardinals 7 (11:39 remaining)The Packers defensive MVP, linebacker DeVondre Campbell, spied Ryan Kerrigan Jersey quarterback Kyler Murray and dropped him for a sack on third-and-11. A horrible block-in-the-back penalty on receiver Malik Taylor ruined Amari Rodgers 17-yard punt return and pushed the Packers back to the 15.Packers 7, Cardinals 7 (12:54 remaining)The drive started with a 7-yard run by Aaron Jones a sign of things to come. AJ Dillon had runs of 4, 12 and 6 yards and Juwann Winfree one of the fill-in receivers had a catch for a gain of 12. On third-and-5, Winfree was open again but didnt run his route deep enough and was dropped about a Jamin Davis Jersey foot short of the first down. On the first play of the second quarter, Dillon was hit 2 yards short of the marker by linebacker Jordan Hicks but powered through him for a gain of 3 to the 11. Dillon slashed his way to the 3 behind blocks by right tackle Billy Turner and tight end Dominique Dafney. Finally, on third-and-1, Jones drove linebacker Isaiah Simmons into the end zone. Low man wins, and Jones got under the former first-round pick and pushed him 3 yards into the end zone. Scroll to ContinueFirst QuarterCardinals 7, Packers 0 (0:00 remaining)The first quarter ended with Green Bay facing a fourth-and-inches from the 12. While the pa sing game has sputtered, AJ Dillon has carried four times for 27 yards.Cardinals 7, Packers 0 (6:17 remaining)The Cardinals blew through the Packers like a hot desert breeze. On third-and-9, Kyler Murray went deep to All-Pro receiver DeAndre Hopkins vs. Eric Stokes. With Murrays heave in the air, Hopkins slowed up. So did Stokes. Then Hopkins ran past him. It wound up being a 61-yard touchdown, though a facemask on Hopkins set the ball at Green Bays 21. Before the ball was thrown, Preston Smith was charging into the backfield

Two weeks ago, everything was bleak for the 49ers.Losing to the Cardinals embarra singly without Kyler Murray at home completely deflated any notion that the 49ers were a playoff caliber team. Two weeks later, the 49ers see themselves right there as playoff contenders. That lo s to the Cardinals just might have been the wake up call they needed. When the 49ers hosted the Rams, they got back to their roots offensively. They put on a full commitment to running the football, and sure enough good things Stephen Anderson Jersey happened. Most of this season's woes for the 49ers have stemmed from the offense. Now they are suddenly clicking on all cylinders the past two games. So what has changed? I just think we've all gotten a little bit better in what we're doing," said Kyle Shanahan. "It's not much of a new way that we've been going about it. I think weve just been doing it at a consistent, higher level. When Michael Davis Jersey we haven't ran the ball as well, which we haven't, yesterday at times and verse the Rams. But we've been able to move the chains on third down, which allows you to keep smashing the ball as you say and playing smash-mouth football. But it's not like we're just gashing people in the run game."We're finding a way to stay out there. Whether it's been the run or the pa s game. And I think at the same time, our defenses have been stopping guys at a higher level. I also think we've gotten turnovers on special teams and defense. And it also has been very big that these last couple of weeks our offense hasn't turned the ball over at all either. So when you do all that stuff, you Josh Harris Jersey do get a lot more plays, a lot more drives and that helps everybody. Coaches and players get in a better rhythm.Scroll to ContinueShanahan is right in his answer, but he really should have emphasized the real reason the 49ers offense has turned it around. It is the fact that Shanahan himself has stopped trying so hard to be the smartest man in the room. Yes, the players are executing better and playing up to their level has certainly helped. But all season long the offense has seen players in and out of the lineup. No matter what changes were made for whatever reason, the offense remained its stagnate self. The only common denominator here was Shanahan.Facing the Rams really unlocked his mind block. He knew that was a game the 49ers had to have or else their season was over. And it is not like Shanahan needs much motivation Uchenna Nwosu Jersey to be at the top of his game against an elite opponent on primetime, especially when it is against Sean McVay. Shanahan just refuses to let his understudy own him and that drive is what forced him back to the basics. Sometimes you need to face a familiar opponent to get back on track. Look at how the Chiefs look alive again after demolishing the Raiders. Facing familiar teams can be the remedy for an ailing offense.Shanahan finally realized that running the football is what makes the offense run so smoothly. The crazy part is that they could have been doing that all season long. Just because you go down a score or two doesn't mean the run game should get abandoned. If it's 14-0, the 49ers can still score pointson the ground. They can't just have Jimmy Garoppolo drop back 50 times and expect him to execute consistently. He needs the run to aid him.The offense is no longer getting too cute or straightforward with pa s attempts. That isn't the 49ers' strength. They have one of the greatest run blocking units in the game with Trent Williams, George Kittle, Kyle Juszczyk and wide receivers Brenden Jaimes Jersey who can get aggre sive. All of these components equate to a nasty running attack and Shanahan has acknowledged that is what will make everything easier. It allows the defense longer rest periods and time to make adjustments. Garoppolo no longer will need more than 25 pa s attempts. His sweet spot is 20 to 25 to make everything go smoothly. The more throws he is asked to make, the more of a chance he is to make a mistake. Right now, he is playing his role soundly.Everyone is playing better, but it is Shanahan who has elevated profusely, which explains the offensive turnaround.

Taking over at the Jacksonville 33, the Pats found the end zone in just seven-plays. It was Jones 20th touchdown pa s of the season, setting a new franchise record for touchdown pa ses by a rookie, previously set by Jim Plunkett with 19 in 1971.Scroll to ContinueNOTE: With his pick of Lawrence, J.C. Jackson tied Raiders cornerback Lester Hayes and Everson Walls of both the Cowboys and Giants, for the most interceptions by a player in his first four seasons with 25. However, the Patriots added six to their growing lead. As the Patriots were thriving, Lawrence and the Jaguars continued to struggle. The 22-year-old to sed his third interception of the day, picked by safety Kyle Dugger at the Jacksonville 21-yard-line. Dugger nearly ran it back for the pick-six, but was pushed out-of-bounds at the Jaguars one yard line. Rhamondre Stevenson Koda Martin Jersey completed the drive with a one-yard touchdown rush. Though there were few opportunities for field-goal attempts in Week Seventeen, Patriots kicker Nick Folk would get his chance to light the Gillette Stadium scoreboard, capping an eleven-play, 53-yard drive by connecting on a 43-yard field goal. For Folk, it was his 35th field-goal of the season, tying him for the most in franchise history (set by Stephen Gostkowski in 2014).Having the game well-in-hand, the Patriots gave the ball to back-up quarterback Brian Hoyer. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, the results were familiar. Hoyer led the Pats on a seven-play, 74-yard drive, highlighted by a 46-yard connection with receiver Kendrick Bourne. Stevenson put the Pats at the half-century mark on points scored for the day with his six-yard run to the endzone. Though Jake Bailey mishandled the snap, eliminating the po sibility for the extra point, the Pats put 50 points on the board for the second time this season.Despite their touchdown coming far too late in the game to be significant, the Jaguars were able to find the endzone. Lawrence hit running back Dare Ogunbowale for 28 yards and the score. Still, the Patriots would finish Week Seventeen by dominating Jacksonville on both sides of the ball.Injury Justin Pugh Jersey Update:Patriots offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn (hip), running back Damien Harris (hamstring) and safety Adrian Phillips (wrist) all left the game on Sunday and were listed as questionable to return. GREEN BAY, Wis. Hindsight is always 20/20, especially when it comes to the NFL Draft. A lot of things go into whether or not a draft pick was worth the investment. Was the scouting departments projection correct? Was the player a good fit for the scheme? Was he given the proper coaching? How does he handle life as a profe sional? With that as a backdrop, lets revisit the Green Bay Packers 2021 draft cla s in a series of stories. Nine players were selected, including second-round pick Josh Myers with the 62nd overall selection. Before the DraftThe Packers have had a long history of top-notch center play. The latest in that line was Corey Linsley. A fifth-round pick in 2014, Linsley was thrust into the Week 1 lineup against Seattle. The Seahawks and their indomitable defense, salivating in anticipation of facing a rookie, . Isaiah Coulter Jersey Linsley didnt need any prayers that night. In fact, he had a strong debut and a strong rookie season, and only got better. In 2020, he was named to the All-Pro team. The Packers let him go last offseason, a combination of the teams salary-cap problems, age (he was set to turn 30 before training camp) and some injury history. Thus, they went into the 2021 NFL Draft needing a center. Packers Select Josh Myers in Second RoundIts this pick thats the inspiration for this series. The consensus top center prospect in the draft cla s was Oklahomas Creed Humphrey. Humphrey started 37 games during his final three seasons. In 2020, he was named the Big 12s Offensive Lineman of the Year and became a two-time All-American. Along with elite performance at a big-time program, Humphrey dominated the pre-draft proce s. Sooners Jason Peters Jersey defensive end Ronnie Perkins called Humphrey Frankenstein and a freak. , an athletic analytics system created by Kent Platte, takes player measurements and puts them on a 0-to-10 scale compared to their position group. Humphrey scored a perfect 10 and ranked first out of all centers dating to 1987.Scroll to ContinueWith the Packers on the clock at No. 62, need and best player available seemed aligned. But, instead of taking Humphrey, general manager Brian Gutekunst went with Ohio States Myers. Humphrey went at No. 63 to the Kansas City Chiefs. Asked about Myers over Humphrey, Gutekunst said, It was a pretty good center cla s up at the top this year, and I thought we had some options. But Josh, his size, his athleticism, his power, how smart he is, what they asked him to do at Ohio State and understanding he could handle some of that here, I think was intriguing to us. I think he fit what were all about. At the Time, I Would Have Picked Humphrey. The VerdictBased on rookie results, Gutekunst botched this one. Humphrey was voted the All-Rookie center. While he was not voted to the Pro Bowl team or selected to The A sociated Pre s prestigious All-Pro team, Red Grange Jersey Humphrey was selected first-team All-Pro by Pro Football Focus. He was the only rookie to garner first-team honors. In 17 games, Humphrey allowed one sack and 10 total pre sures. Myers, on the other hand, allowed zero sacks and eight total pre sures in six games after mi sing time with an injured finger and a knee injury that required surgery. Take PFFs grades for what theyre worth, but Humphrey was the No. 1-ranked center as a run blocker not just among rookies but overall. Obviously, its far too soon to say whether Gutekunst should have drafted Humphrey. How might Myers season have turned out had he been able to string together 17-plus consecutive starts? But, from a one-year perspective, this looks like a mi sed opportunity. It will be interesting to track their careers and see if Myers becomes the type of player the Packers projected. I think I still have a lot to prove and Im excited to get the opportunity to do that next year, Myers said at the end of the season. Im just looking forward to a healthy season. I just felt like I didnt have any flow to this season. I was in and out and that was frustrating.Packers Redraft Series LT David Bakhtiari ($10.97 million cap charge; ranking No. 10 among OTs)The five-time All-Pro had a year hed love to forget. The ACL tear he sustained late in the 2020 season perhaps prevented the Packers from beating the Buccaneers and getting to the Super Bowl. Bakhtiari targeted a midseason return but it just didnt happen. The knee never felt right and there was a disconcerting fluid buildup. So, he had a follow-up procedure done. When he returned for the finale at Detroit and somehow played as if he were in midseason form it meant hed be back for the playoffs and a potential Super Bowl run.Actually, its not what it meant. Bakhtiari was inactive for the lo s against San Francisco. That meant he was paid $118,518.52 for each of his 27 snaps. Now, the hope is Bakhtiari will be able to return to form for the final three years of his contract. Speaking of his contract, a restructure created $8.3 million of cap space for 2021. His Tarik Cohen Jersey new cap number for 2022 will be $22.2 million, fourth-highest among tackles. Presumably, the Packers will turn his $9.5 million roster bonus into signing bonus and add some void years to his contract to le son the blow. That sounds great but it makes the long-term health of his knee a bigger priority. The grade isnt a knock on Bakhtiari, his comeback or his mind-set. Its not his fault that he didnt recover as well as anyone had hoped. Its not as if he was slamming cans of beer and eating platters of poutine rather than rehabbing. Its just the reality.Grade: F. LG Elgton Jenkins ($1,849,805 cap charge; ranking No. 44 among OGs)Jenkins went from being hailed as one of the top guards in the NFL as a Pro Bowler in 2020 to one of the best offensive linemen, period, in 2021, when he capably replaced Bakhtiari at left tackle. Before he suffered a torn ACL at Minnesota in Week 11, he was absolutely tremendous. Of 67 offensive tackles with at least his 496 snaps, he ranked 16th in PFFs pa s-blocking efficiency, which measures sacks, hits and hurries per pa Justin Fields Jersey s-protecting snap. SIS charged him with zero blown blocks in the run game. (A blown block is defined as any time a blocker does not succe sfully block the defender he attempted to engage with and gave the defender an opportunity to negatively affect the play). Of every lineman in the NFL who played at least Jenkins 176 snaps as a run blocker, he was the only one with a blown-block rate of 0.0 percent.Bakhtiaris injury shows nothing is guaranteed in coming back from a torn ACL. Nonethele s, a 10-month recovery would get Jenkins on the field by late September. When he does come back, where will he line up? Will he back at left guard? Or how about right tackle if the Packers dont bring back Billy Turner? That question not only will be important for the Packers but for Jenkins, who will be entering his final season under contract knowing t
